coraline in 3d.

Yesterday we caught a matinee show of Coraline in 3d, which is based on the children’s book Coraline by Neil Gaiman. The movie is visually stunning, especially in 3d (although we heard that this past weekend was the end of its 3d run — at least around here). But despite the storytelling being overly simplistic, somewhat following a video game plot development and practically spelling out the heroine’s mission, I have to say that I would not take a kid to see this film — button eyes equals nightmares for months! Although my sentiment is probably influenced by my track record as a youngster, crying and running scared from movies. My last experience with 3d was in 1988 when my parents took me to see Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker at Disneyworld (I cried the whole time and foolishly thought that if I didn’t put on the 3d glasses I wouldn’t be able to see the picture). Nonetheless, even in 2d Coraline will impress.
